Week 3 Unlimited
Yes you are!
This week we have been reading about the Conscious and Subconscious minds and how they are connected through the vagus nerve. Being rather on the squeamish side I never studied the body and avoided biology at school as soon as possible! Eeewww! This week’s reading has coincided with me attending (voluntarily I might add) a Red Cross ‘Emergency at Work’ First Aid Course to ensure I can help if anyone were to have a problem while attending my workshops. I actually really enjoyed the day and feel quite proud to say I passed the course and now have a 3 year certificate as a first aider. Unfortunately the course did not cover the vagus nerve! So what is it?
Well ‘vagus’ is the latin for ‘wandering’ so literally translated vagus nerve means wandering nerve. It is actually either one of two nerves that emerge from the brain stem, along with 12 other nerves collectively called cranial nerves. The vagus nerve meanders through the body and controls our subconscious bodily functions such as heart beat, digestion, voice box and breathing. Kinda important little sucker wouldn’t you say!!? 🙂
Talking about the conscious and subconscious minds Haanel says, “The connection between the two systems is made by the vagus nerve which passes out of the cerebral region as a portion of the voluntary system to the thorax, sending out branches to the heart and lungs, and finally passing through the diaphragm, it loses its outer coating and becomes identified with the nerves of the Sympathetic System, so forming a connecting link between the two and making man physically a single entity.” (Haanel 3:3)
The Sympathetic System is also known as the Solar Plexus which supports the vital functions of the body, is the organ of the Subconscious Mind and our emotional recognition, and is also referred to as the Sun of the body. It is through the subconscious that we radiate emotion and feelings. If you entertain negative thoughts which create negative emotions you will radiate negative vibration. The Universal Law of Attraction which says ‘that which is liken to itself is drawn’ therefore bringing things into your experience of the same vibration. This is why it is absolutely vital that we write our DMP (Definite Major Purpose) for the Masterkey Course filled with positive, focused, clear words. As you begin to read your DMP with enthusiasm your subconscious mind will start to absorb your words, your feelings will begin to change causing your vibration to raise. And ‘like attracts like!”
Beliefs are just repeated thoughts, and your thoughts are under the control of your conscious mind. The organ of this mind is your brain. When you can think positive thoughts and eliminate negative influences by becoming more observant of the things you do (eg stop feeding your mind with negative TV) then your beliefs will change, your feelings will change, your vibration will rise and you will find the circumstances of your life will change.
“It is evident, therefore, that all we have to do it let our light shine; the more energy we can radiate, the more rapidly shall we be enabled to transmute undesirable conditions into sources of pleasure and profit. The important question, then, is, how to let this light shine; how to generate this energy.” (Haanel 3:13) ……… to be continued
