Week 16 Accident or Intent?
‘Be’ the change you wish to see
This week a collective exercise was set for the merry band of MKMMAers to record any acts of kindness we saw each day, carry out two acts of kindness without being caught, and share with each other the things we noted. It has been remarkable reading how many different things people have witnessed and done to help others. But why were we asked to do this?
“The conditions with which we meet in the world without, correspond to the conditions which we find in the world within. This is brought about by the law of attraction.” (Haanel 16:14)
Therefore, if kindness is not in us we would not be able to see it in our daily lives……. Wow! There are around 200 people from all over the world doing this exercise this week! I know there are many millions of wonderful, kind, loving people in our world, but sometimes we just need to be reminded of it and the power our thoughts have on our lives.
“Whatever enters the mind through the senses or the objective mind will impress the mind and result in a mental image which will become a pattern for the creative energies. These experiences are largely the result of environment, chance, past thinking and other forms of negative thought, and must be subjected to careful analysis before being entertained. On the other hand, we can form our own mental images, through our own interior processes of thought regardless of the thoughts of others, regardless of exterior condition, regardless of environment of every kind, and it is by the exercise of this power that we can control our own destiny, body, mind and soul.” (Haanel 16:15)
Our eyes and ears are bombarded daily by negative media. I discussed in Week 4 the issues with mindlessly watching television. Advertising fills our heads with thoughts of lack and inadequacy, soap operas fill our heads with thoughts of meanness, revenge and lack of abundance. Reality shows exploit human fears for entertainment. Why? Maybe Haanel can give us a clue……
“The psychologists have come to the conclusion that there is but one sense, the sense of feeling, and that all other senses are but modifications of this one sense; this being true, we know why feeling is the very fountain head of power, why the emotions so easily overcome the intellect, and why we must put feeling into our thought, if we wish results. Thought and feeling is the the irresistible combination.” (Haanel 16:34)
As humans we are ‘feeling’ driven. If advertisers can make us ‘feel’ buying their product will make us more attractive and that our life will be somehow more complete, they have succeeded in their mission. Our eyes see, our conscious mind thinks, we feel, and our subconscious mind can not differentiate between reality and imagination! We buy!!!! So what happens when 200 people turn their collective attention to thoughts of kindness and love instead? Well………
Turn off your TV and go do something kind for someone else instead. You will ‘feel’ so much better.
