Stress

To Stress or not to Stress

Some stress is helpful, too much stress is unhelpful. When do stress levels become too much?

Like the fan belt in a car engine, if the tension is too much or not enough the engine won't work efficiently and it may cause damage to other parts of the engine. The same principle applies to stress on our brain and body. High levels of stress create fear based responses that shut down the prefrontal cortex of the brain. This makes focusing on anything other than survival almost impossible. In business this is not a good place to be.

Taking time out to recharge your batteries on a regular basis is really important, but it's not helpful 24/7 365 days a year! It is too easy to slip in inertia and lack motivation. Again, the ramifications of doing nothing are obvious.

Many life events create emotional stress and tension within us. Without a way to release it we can easily find ourselves in a place of pain, fear and loneliness which can cause us to emotionally hibernate, physically procrastinate and mentally suffocate.

Long term, stress can cause damage to other parts of your body. Misdiagnosis of emotional stress can lead to unnecessary medication too. Some people who have been on antidepressants for years and tried to stop taking them often find their original underlying emotions begin to rise up again and the mistaken assumption is they need to increase the medication dose. It becomes a vicious cycle for you while the pharmaceutical companies reap the rewards! It's more cost effective, health efficient and time efficient for you in the long term to simply deal with the emotional stress head on now.

What now?

We know more about the brain and the impact of emotional stress than ever before. There is still a long way to go, however, for humans to evolve and reach high levels of awareness we need to let go of outdated beliefs and practices that no longer serve us. Who benefits from humans being on emotional suppressant medication? Who benefits from you feeling fearful, lonely, depressed, scared, stressed? It most certainly isn't you!

Many people who have faced their emotional pain head on and emerged to tell the tale, go on to become coaches, counsellors, therapists and teachers to help the millions of people who need support right now. We call it doing the 'Inner work.'   Having someone who has travelled the path before you, who knows where the potholes, tight bends and blindspots are is more valuable than numbing yourself.

All for one and one for all

There is no one person who can solve everyone's problems. The one you're seeking is the part of you that communicates through your emotions and feelings. This is your Higher Self. We are all connected and energetically part of all there is. When you heal yourself, you are contributing to the healing all those you come into contact with too. You're creating a ripple effect all the time, whether you know you are or not.

What type of ripple do you want to create? Are you ready to change the way you think, open your mind to new ways of seeing the world and releasing the emotional stress that is preventing you from achieving your highest potential?

Many men are trying to maintain a professional front for fear of being seen as weak, an imposter, not capable, not good enough. Over time emotions build, our body literally becomes a living pressure cooker and our mental and physical health begin to suffer. Chronic stress is toxic to our bodies.
