C9 What kind of Magnet are you?
TRUST vs FEAR
I thought I would expand a little on the theme of last weeks post as despite my best intentions I’ve found myself feeling a little afraid this week. Why do we fear? Is it just a lack of trust?
F – False (not according with the truth; incorrect)
E – Evidence (that which tends to prove or disprove something)
A – Appearing (to have the appearance of being)
R – Real (true; genuine)
You may have heard the above acronym said in meetings and such, but how many of us actually stop to consider what it means? FALSE – When we are faced with an obvious lie, or blatant incorrect information it is usually not too hard to see, and we are able to make a clear decision about what action we wish to take accordingly. EVIDENCE – We all know that by law, police cannot prosecute someone without sufficient evidence. Many of us need proof of things before we take action; we like to know what we are letting ourselves in for before we commit to anything. Again, this all seems fairly normal and straight forward. APPEARING – Now we can start to find ourselves in unknown territory. To check how something appears we usually trust our senses, eyes, ears, smell, taste, touch) to confirm things in our mind. If something does not sit comfortably with any one of our human senses we begin to question it validity or trustworthiness. REAL – Can something be true and genuine but not be easily identifiable through our human senses? Huh-oh!!! Now we are bordering on spiritual stuff and for some this becomes unknown or maybe even frightening territory.
It can’t be real because I can’t see it! It can’t be real because I don’t hear anything! It can’t be real because I don’t smell it! It can’t be real because I don’t taste anything! It can’t be real because I can’t touch it! ………..hmmmm……….ok……
but what about electricity or gravity? We can perceive the effects of each, but we can’t actually see, hear, smell, taste or touch them. We trust when we plug our appliances into an electric socket and turn the power on that it will work. We do not try sticking our finger in the socket first just to check the electricity is there before we take action! If the appliance doesn’t work do we blame the electricity or the appliance?
We wear safety helmets and equipment when we are climbing heights, just incase we fall because we know if we make a mistake we ‘will’ fall. It is law. If we have an accident do we blame gravity? Of course not; we blame faulty equipment or ourselves for bad judgement? That’s logical.
So coming back to my point this week…… The thing that has been playing on my mind is the need to see evidence of success, some evidence of financial certainty as proof I am on the right path. That everything will be ok. Understanding the Laws of the Universe and actually trusting them can feel very different when you are changing the course of your life and cutting off what for a long time has been your power source. As a human I want to feel secure and like most people I have learnt to become reliant on a regular income. And like most people, if that income is not readily seen I have moments of hesitation and even doubt. I have been giving this a great deal of thought this week. My reading of Charles Haanel’s Master Key brought me to Chapter 23 which says:
“The money consciousness is an attitude of mind; it is the open door to the arteries of commerce. It is the receptive attitude. Desire is the attractive force which sets the current in motion and fear is the great obstacle by which the current is stopped or completely reversed, turned away from us.” (23:1) …….(highlights by me)
“Fear is just the opposite from money consciousness; it is poverty consciousness, and as the law is unchangeable we get exactly what we give; if we fear we get what we feared. Money weaves itself into the entire fabric of our very existence; it engages the best thought of the best minds.” (23:2)
Haanel goes on to say that we can make a money magnet of ourselves, but first we must think how we can make money for others. How can we best serve and assist others, because what benefits one must benefit all. Just as we recognise the power of electricity and gravity, and trust them to work, it is still our decision whether to use them correctly to our advantage or misuse them and cause ourselves pain and suffering. So it must also be true of other Universal Laws.
I can choose to hypothetically ‘stick my finger in the socket’ or jump off a cliff without the appropriate safety gear, but my lack of trust would be costly. Haanel had the same conclusion, “….does it not seem reasonable to hold that a true understanding of Spirit, and its laws of manifestation, would be about the most ‘practical’ thing a ‘practical’ person can hope to find?” (23:13)
I am confident I am following the dance of my heart. That through teaching and sharing my gifts I can help others find the passion in their heart. As I leave the road of the known and continue along the path of the unknown I am putting all my trust in the fundamental law of the Universe, the Law of Attraction. Through positive focused intention and attention, through sharing the song in my heart, it is my desire to serve others, and in so doing I also create the life ‘I’ want. “A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” (Maya Angelou) ………… And so I sing……….. 🙂
