Week 12 Twas the night before Xmas
and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even………..me!?? huh?
Have you ever sat so still that all you could hear was the sound of your breath and the beat of your heart? Haanel tells us, ‘It is in the Silence that you get in touch with the Omnipotent power of the subconscious mind from which all power is evolved.’ (Haanel 12:26)
Why do we often find it so difficult to quieten our minds so we can get in touch with our subconscious? As soon as you try to sit without moving it seems everything starts to itch, 
your mind suddenly creates a ‘to do’ list as long as your arm that all need doing urgently and then condemns you for being lazy and just sitting there doing nothing!!! ‘The Sit’ (15 mins of focused thought in silence and stillness) was definitely one of the hardest things for me to do when I started the Masterkey last year.
‘The only way to keep from going backwards is to keep going forward. Eternal vigilance is the price of success. There are three steps, and each one is absolutely essential. You must first have knowledge of your power; second, the courage to dare; third the faith to do.’ (Haanel 12:4) With Mark J’s words, ‘if you can’t control your body, how will you ever control your mind’ ringing in my ear, I knew I needed to persevere with this exercise.
Our ability to think creatively is infinite. We all think, whether we are aware we are thinking or not. And our thoughts create electric impulses that draw other thoughts of a similar vibration to them. Our hearts are also sending out electrical signals and ‘It is this combination of Thought and Love that forms the irresistible force called the law of attraction. All natural laws are irresistible, the law of Gravitation, or Electricity, or any other law operates with mathematical exactitude. There is no variation; it is only the channel of distribution which may be imperfect…..’ (Haanel 12:21 part)
Basically what Haanel highlights is that we do not scratch our heads in sheer amazement over the law of gravity when a bridge collapses, or the law of electricity when our hair dryer blows up! We accept without question that the appliance is faulty or the bridge was either not built properly or some other natural disaster caused structural damage. How silly we would look if we stamped out feet and shouted that gravity or electricity did not work for us.
So why do we blame everyone and everything else when our lives do not work out the way we hoped? Has it ever occurred to you that the law of attraction, being a Universal law, works perfectly, and that it is our ability to think correctly and focus clearly that causes the results we get? Ouch!! That’s a stinger! You mean I am creating my own life? Yikes! Why don’t we learn how to understand and use our conscious and subconscious minds properly at school if it’s so important? ….Hmmmm…….good question!!!… You decide!
‘He who desires wisdom, power, or permanent success of any kind will find it only within; it is an unfoldment. The unthinking may conclude that the silence is very simple and easily attained, but it should be remembered that only in absolute silence may one come into contact with Divinity itself; may learn of the unchangeable law and open for himself the channels by which persistent practice and concentration lead to perfection.’ (Haanel 12:27)
